Muslim scholars asks Hamas to reconsider decision to restore relations with Assad regime

Muslim scholars who met with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, said the meeting was held in order to appeal to him to reconsider the party’s decision to work towards restoring relations with the Assad regime, announced in June.

The statement clarified what transpired in their recent meeting with the leadership of the Hamas political bureau in Istanbul, Turkey, stating that Haniyeh promised to discuss the scholars' views with the other members of the movement's political bureau at its nearest meeting.

Russian-backed Palestinian ‘Al-Quds Brigade’ kills Assad security forces in attack on Iran-linked Deir el-Zour checkpoint: report

Gunmen affiliated with the Russian-linked Palestinian ‘Al-Quds Brigade’ militia on Monday carried out an attack on an Assad regime Military Intelligence Division checkpoint south of Deir el-Zour, killing and wounding a number of regime personnel.

Call Syria reported that the militiamen attacked the Hreibsha checkpoint on the Damascus-Deir Al-Zour highway after military intelligence personnel stationed there stopped an ambulance carrying Al-Quds Brigade personnel who had been wounded earlier in a landmine explosion in the southern rural area of Deir el-Zour countryside.

German Foreign Office: Syria Unsafe for Refugees

The German Federal Foreign Office said Syria remains an unsafe place for refugees due to the crackdowns perpetrated by the incumbent regime and its affiliated militias.

In a Thursday statement, the German Foreign Office said the security turmoil in Syria poses serious threats to the lives of refugees, citing violations committed by pro-government militias at checkpoints set upacross the country, and the uncontrolled circulation of weapons deployed “mercilessly” by these militias and intelligence officers against people in Syria.
